The top flight had previously played match-weeks 18 and 19 behind closed doors as a precautionary measure. Discussions between the relevant authorities will continue ahead of plotting a definitive path for the future, with a key meeting to be held on Sunday night about continued postponement or cancellation of the 2019/20 campaign.
“The UAE Football Association had followed up with the latest health developments related to the coronavirus epidemic and the efforts made by the authorities to limit its spread,” a statement read.
“After assessing the situation with these entities, the Football Association decided to extend the suspension of football activities in the country as of today [April 12] and until further notice as a precaution, provided that the situation is evaluated and reviewed.
